Ruidoso Middle School Welcomes Principal Anthony Bastine

Ruidoso Middle School is proud to welcome Mr. Anthony Bastine as our new Principal. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Mr. Bastine began his career serving in the United States Marine Corps for more than 20 years. Following his military service, he dedicated the next decade to education, working as a teacher and girls’ basketball coach in both Texas and New Mexico, and later serving several years as a high school administrator.

Married with four adult children and five grandsons, Mr. Bastine has always encouraged his family to be adventurous and follow their own unique paths. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, fishing, and discovering the beauty of nature. Having fallen in love with Ruidoso years ago, he patiently waited for the opportunity to make this his permanent home. He has been deeply impressed by the community’s kindness and hospitality, and says he has never met a group of students as outstanding as those at RMS.

Visitors to his office will find walls decorated with inspiring historical figures—reflecting his positive outlook and commitment to motivating others. He is eager to build on the great work of his predecessor and is especially excited to learn more about Mescalero culture and traditions. Confident that he is exactly where he is meant to be, Mr. Bastine starts each day with enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead.
