Protecting Students Through Accident & Catastrophic Insurance
Ruidoso School District has taken an important step in protecting students by purchasing blanket student accident and catastrophic insurance coverage. This ensures that while students are participating in sports and other school activities, they have access to quality health care should an injury occur.
These programs are designed to cover all school-sponsored, school-supervised activities, giving families peace of mind knowing their children are protected.
What to do if a student is injured in a covered accident:
The witnessing school staff member should complete Part A of the claim form and sign it.
Once completed, the form should be given to the student’s parent or guardian.
Myers-Stevens will then work directly with the family to complete the claim.
Parents/guardians will find detailed instructions for completing Part B of the claim form, including what documentation and signatures are required. The form also provides contact information for our claims office (phone and email) as well as guidance for medical providers.
Key points to remember:
Coverage applies to all school-sponsored, school-supervised events, including interscholastic sports.
If a student has no primary insurance, this coverage becomes their primary accident coverage. If they do have insurance, we act as secondary coverage, helping with co-pays and deductibles.
Parents/guardians may seek treatment with any licensed practitioner.
Reimbursement can be made directly to parents/guardians (if they paid out-of-pocket) or to the facility/doctor (if they bill us).

It is the sole responsibility of the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to pay for any medical services, treatments, or related expenses that fall outside or exceed the scope of this coverage.
