Scarlett Remund, student of the week

Scarlett Remund is a 6th grade student at Ruidoso Middle School who loves to sing and has been doing so since she was able to talk.  Remund has lived in Ruidoso all her life.  When she was just two years old, she discovered her voice while singing “You Are My Sunshine” to her grandfather at his birthday party in front of all the guests. Remund truly enjoys singing and says that she really finds joy in singing with her grandfather.

“My grandparents are very musical and they taught me everything I know about singing,” she said.

Remund said that she likes singing in church and her favorite song to sing is “Good Good Father.”

“I like singing because it builds confidence in me and it is very fun,” she said, “and I get to show people what I can do.

Remund is learning to play the guitar and really wants to learn to play the piano too. She has performed in Capitan at the 4th of July Rodeo, and sings at Sacred grounds on Friday nights whenever she can.  She also sings at her church, Gateway Church of Christ.  She stated that ever since she was little she wanted to be on American Idol.

Aside from singing, Remund also stated that she would like to be an architect someday.  She has a passion for crafting with hot glue and enjoys spending her free time in her grandmother’s sewing room.

Remund's favorite subject in school is Language Arts and she expressed that she really likes middle school . . .  “so far.”
